At the Congress, delegates discussed and commented on the draft report summarising the work of the Association during its first tenure (2014-2020) and the direction of the Association's activities for the 2021-2026 tenure.

In the last term, the VPFA implemented a wide range of practical and meaningful activities to further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

In particular, the Association organised many activities with the participation of a number of social organisations and people, contributing to promoting mutual understanding, friendship and solidarity between the two peoples of Vietnam and the Philippines.

For the next tenure, the VPFA set goals regarding renewing and improving the effectiveness of the Association's activities, consolidating and developing its member organisations in localities and clubs; building and establishing relationships with Philippine partners and localities; strengthening activities to promote economic-trade cooperation, education, training, information and communications, and so on.

At the congress, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien was elected to the position of Chairman of the VPFA for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Lauding the success of the Congress, Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre and President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga welcomed the Association's contribution to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples.

The Philippine Ambassador emphasised that, since its establishment, the VPFA has made important strides, deepening the diplomacy between Vietnam and the Philippines.
