Cuong, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, thanked international partners and friends for attending the expo, including those from Japan, saying that it is a great source of encouragement for Vietnam to hold the next event.

He told his guest that Vietnam expects to expand cooperation with other countries and international industry groups to improve the capacity of its defence industry and modernise equipment and weapons to safeguard the nation under any circumstance, as well as for peace and stability in the region and the world.

On the back of the growing extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, bilateral defence cooperation remains one of the important pillars, he said.

Yasuhiko, for his part, lauded the Vietnamese Defence Ministry for holding the expo on a large-scale that attracts many countries.

In order to realise cooperation agreements between the two defence ministries, he suggested both sides explore their potential and demand to build an environment of peace in the region.

Japan always believes that Vietnam is a trustworthy partner, including in defence cooperation, he said.
