According to the organisers, in the sixth season of the event, 97 enterprises were recognised by the National Brand Council this year for producing products that reach the national brand’s standards. Of which, 20 enterprises have achieved the recognition for the sixth time and 24 others were recognised for the first time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung emphasised that the achievements that the national brand enterprises have obtained are an important foundation for the country’s economic development in the future.

He urged the honoured businesses to continue to pursue the value of the National Brand Programme, focusing on quality, innovation and spearheading competence to meet the expectation of the State and be worthy of the trust and love of consumers for their products and services bearing the Vietnamese brand.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said that the National Brand Programme has contributed to raising awareness on brand name building for enterprises, as well as boosting coordination and support in the building and development of trade marks.

According to the minister, enterprises honoured with the national brand have showed their improvement of capacity, expressed in the maintaining of high growth rates on profit and revenue, even at nearly 70%, to stay firmly in the domestic market and develop their export markets.

Specifically, the total revenue of these enterprises reached over VND924 trillion in 2017, up 28% over 2015. Export value was at nearly US$5.7 billion and contributed more than VND63 trillion to the State budget, up 19.3% over 2015, while creating jobs for nearly half a million workers.

The Vietnam National Brand Programme was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 253/2003/QĐ-TTg dated November 25, 2003. This is the only programme by the Government of Vietnam to promote national image and national brand through product brand (goods and services). The Ministry of Industry and Trade is the standing agency in charge of coordinating with the relevant ministries and agencies in implementing the programme.
