Co-organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Business Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods (BAHQVG), the event aimed to resume production and business activities after months of social distancing due to the epidemic.
It also aimed to review the implementation of an agreement on supporting farmers and businesses to raise product quality standards that was signed by the two agencies in August 2018.
During the two years of implementation, MOST and BAHQVG have helped the business community and farmers to raise awareness in construction and application of standards, thereby reducing losses in production process, saving manpower, time and energy, and protecting the environment, thus improving operation efficiency and quality of products, as well as enhancing competitiveness and brand prestige.
The set of criteria for High-Quality Vietnamese Goods - Integration standards has been recognised by many organisations, such as Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board, Good Manufacturing Practices and Global G.A.P. Within which, there are two outstanding works, including building the Local G.A.P standards for agriculture and High-Quality Vietnamese Goods - Integration standards for five non-food industries.
MOST has provided support to the project, such as sending experts from the National Standards Technical Committee to join the working group to raise the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods - Integration standards for non-food industry groups, as well as guiding the development of the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods criteria for various sectors, including textile, garment, footwear, rubber, plastic, cosmetic and wood processing.
Through the implementation of seminars and workshops, the two agencies have helped businesses develop fundamental knowledge in the application of standards to improve the value of agricultural products and the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises, thus enabling them to deeply integrate into the global supply chain.
At the conference, MOST and BAHQVG signed an agreement to implement a farmers' consultancy and training programme on Local G.A.P. in the northern border provinces.
