PM launches emulation movement in socio-economic development

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a directive to launch an emulation movement on successfully implementing socio-economic development tasks and the five-year plan (2021-2025) according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The PM requested all the concerned ministries, agencies, mass organisations and provinces and cities nationwide continue to thoroughly grasp, deploy, propagate and organise the implementation of the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on emulation and commendation, as well as grasping the patriotic emulation thought of President Ho Chi Minh and Directive No. 34-CT/TW of the Politburo on "Continuing to innovate emulation and commendation", making emulation truly become a sense of self-discipline, responsibility and regular employment of each sector, unit and individual, thus actively contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

He asked for innovation in both the contents and method of emulation movements, with rich and diverse forms and specific and practical contents, thus bringing into play the synergy of the whole political system, striving to turn Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry, surpassing low-middle income level by 2025, successfully completing the five-year socio-economic development key targets (2021-2025) set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The concerned authorities, units and localities were asked to launch appropriate emulation movements that align with each field of social life, each region and class of people, calling for emulation in building and perfecting institutions for sustainable economic, cultural and social development, strong development in science, technology and innovation, in association with stimulating the country's development aspirations, creating breakthroughs to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy, restructuring the economy in association with renovating the growth model, comprehensive national digital transformation to build and develop e-Government towards a digital government, economy and society.

Along with organising emulation movements, it is necessary to regularly pay attention to discovering and fostering new examples for replication in order to promote and support emulation movements.

The directive states that at present, with the complicated developments of COVID-19, the entire Party, army and people are determined to concentrate all resources on repelling the “great enemy” by promoting the spirit of national unity with the motto of fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy.

The relevant ministries, agencies, localities and people nationwide should focus on promoting emulation movement, and mobilising the participation of the whole political system to actively participate in disease prevention and control, while promoting solidarity, sharing and mutual support to overcome difficulties.

The directive ordered the continuous implementation of drastic, timely, synchronous and effective solutions in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the application of information technology for quick tracing, fast zoning, testing and effective treatment, as well as ensuring the motto "5K+ vaccines" and speedily testing and vaccinating the population in order to realise the “dual goals" of both effectively preventing the epidemic, protecting people's health, and making good use of opportunities and efforts to recover and the boosting of socio-economic development.
