Forestry exports reach US$ 6.64 billion

The export value of key forestry products is estimated at US$ 6.64 billion for the first nine months of the year, meeting 73.77% of the yearly plan and a rise of 14% annually.

The trade surplus of key forestry products reached US$ 4.97 billion, with the trade surplus of wood and wood products accounting for US$ 4.64 billion of that figure.

The US, EU, China and the Republic of Korea (RoK) are the leading importers of Vietnamese wood and wood products in the first nine months of this year, accounting for 86.72% of Vietnam’s total export revenue.

Currently, the country has planted 161,207 ha of forestry, equivalent to 107.5% of the same period in 2017 (including the plan for replanting forest), equal to 75.1% of the plan.

The forestry sector expects to achieve a total forestry export revenue of US$9 billion and forest coverage of 41.65% by the end of this year.
