Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Co-operative Alliance (VCA) Le Van Nghi said that after six years of implementation of the Law on Co-operatives in 2012, the cooperative economic sector has made many positive changes. The number of newly-established co-operatives is increasing, with the type of co-operative activities becoming increasingly diversified. Many co-operatives have good capital growth, raising financial capacity; the contingent of qualified and capable cadres has been strengthened; and the number of weak co-operative groups has decreased, he added.

Many models of co-operatives operating in value chains have brought practical results. Co-operatives have contributed positively to the poverty alleviation programme and new-style rural building programme, increasingly asserting an important role and position in developing agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

At the workshop, delegates shared many experiences in the development of agricultural co-operatives in Quang Nam as well as some Central and Central Highlands provinces. At the same time, they also focused on discussing and proposing practical solutions to help localities access, multiply and sustainably develop agricultural co-operatives in value chains with regional and regional strengths.

Also at the workshop, delegates spent a lot of time exchanging and discussing the model of new co-operatives, production co-operatives, and processing with environmental protection. On this occasion, delegates attending the seminar also visited and studied the practice of agricultural co-operatives, including Dien Quang (Dien Ban town), and Ai Nghia (Dai Loc district, Quang Nam).
