Vietnam, Russia enhance cooperation in ATM card payment

The National Payment Corporation of Vietnam(NAPAS) and the Russian National Payment Card System (NSPK) held jointly a ceremony to announce the MIR-NAPAS cooperation and the official completion of technical connectionfor domestic card payment.

The ceremony, under the 22nd session of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and his Russian counterpart Maxim Akimov.

Within the cooperation, NAPAS and NSPK have agreed to accept payments using Russia’s MIR card in Vietnam.

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV)and Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB) will be the first banks in the NAPAS system to provide services allowing MIR chip cardholders to pay via BIDV's POS network and withdraw cash through VRB’s ATM network in Vietnam.

NSPK was formed and is managed by the Central Bank of Russia, consisting of 307 member organisations with over 130,000 ATMs and 2.6 million POS machines.

NAPAS, which was established in 2004, is a payment intermediary licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam to provide financial switching and electronic clearing services in the country.
