Connections for Development Forum enhances exchanges between domestic and foreign enterprises

The 2021 Connections for Development Forum, themed “Seizing new opportunities for localities and businesses”, was held in Hanoi on April 26.

The event drew the attendance of Politburo member cum Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and member of the Party Central Committee cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

The forum gathered leaders from the localities, associations and enterprises to discuss and evaluate foreign investment flows into Vietnam in the face of COVID-19 as well as changes in the new world economic landscape, and the positive effects of the new-generation free trade agreements.

Speaking at the Forum, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh appreciated the outstanding achievements of FDI attraction in Vietnam over recent years while mentioning limitations that need to be addressed in the coming time.

He also noted that the FDI sector has become one of the important driving forces of Vietnam's economic growth with the significant increase in its contributions to the country’s GDP.

The Deputy PM affirmed that the Government and relevant agencies and agencies have implemented synchronous and drastic measures to overcome the shortcomings, while highlighting four issues that the Government will focus on solving to towards the successful attraction of FDI in the new context.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that in recent years, the foreign affairs sector has proactively enhanced the connections between domestic localities and businesses and international partners through various effective activities.

The Minister noted that the forum will offer an opportunity for domestic localities and enterprises and foreign investors to discuss their demands, potentials and advantages as well as plans and measures to boost their cooperation.
