According to the Vietnam News Agency, Jean-Noël Poirier, who was also former French Ambassador to Vietnam, noted that the recent business trip to France made by PM Pham Minh Chinh was a meaningful event that attracted great attention from the French public, and especially from businesses. The visit was successful and achieved the set targets as the two sides expressed their aspirations to enhance the cooperation between ministries, agencies and businesses.

The expert emphasised that after the visit, many French companies have considered the possibility of returning to foreign countries, towards Southeast Asia and especially Vietnam.

For Europe, Vietnam has become an industrial country, he added. When many factories in Vietnam were forced to close due to COVID-19 pandemic, European press highlighted this problem because the shutdown of factories had severely affected the supply and production chains. French companies realised that Vietnam promised a prosperous future with many cooperation opportunities.

Jean-Noël Poirier also stated that Vietnam is a stable nation that has developed strongly over the past 30 years and will continue its growth momentum. In addition, Vietnamese people are hard-working and have higher qualifications, so French businesses can find outstanding engineers and directors to run large-scale companies.

Witnessing Vietnam’s development over the past ten years, the former French Ambassador affirmed the country’s political and socio-economic situations have been always stable.

In fact, many French enterprises have gained successes in Vietnam, and he believes that there will be more Vietnamese investors looking to invest in France in the near future.

According to Jean-Noël Poirier, Southeast Asia is a very important agricultural production area. Besides Vietnam, other countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia are also attracting large amounts of foreign direct investment. As such, France is paying great attention to this region.
