Nine-month FDI register surpasses year's estimate

Nhan Dan Online - Vietnam has attracted over US$15 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of this year, surpassing the estimate for the whole year at US$13-14 billion.

The FDI register for nine months this year also increased by 36% when compared to the same period in 2012, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Total 872 FDI projects were licensed in nine months with newly registered capital of US$9.29 billion and additional capital of US$5.71 billion which mainly go to manufacturing and processing industries.

In September alone, US$2.3 billion in FDI of newly registered and additional capital was committed, a threefold increase against the previous month.

FDI disbursement in nine months reached US$8.62 billion, a year-on-year 6.4% increase and it is likely to achieve the target of US$10.5-11 billion for the whole year.
