Nhan Dan Online/VNA - As many as 100 businesses from diverse fields participated in a Vietnam-Algeria business forum held in Algiers on October 20 to provide networking opportunities to businesspeople from the two countries.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh briefed attendees on Vietnam’s investment policies and outlined the country’s strengths and potential in producing, processing and exporting agricultural and fishery products.

He went on to say that businesses from both countries can benefit from closer co-ordination and partnership on trade.

Ferroukhi Lyes, director general of the Algeria National Investment Development Agency, discussed the current investment climate in Algeria and expressed his belief that Vietnam could be a role model for Algeria’s development.

He said the Algerian Government is laying the groundwork for sustainable industry, working to reduce its economic dependence on oil and rethinking its export policies to expand into new and promising markets.

During their stay, Deputy Minister Anh and his delegation held working sessions with the Algerian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Investment Promotion and Commerce.
