Businesses invest US$1.5 billion in Chu Lai Economic Zone

Nhan Dan – More than US$1.5 billion has been pledged to 89 projects in the Chu Lai Economic Zone in central Quang Nam province, local officials have reported.

They added that 21 of the projects, with a total capital of US$187 million, came from foreign investors.

So far, 64 projects have begun operations, creating jobs for 14,000 local residents and contributing 50 percent of Quang Nam’s tax revenue.

Founded in 2003, the Chu Lai Economic Zone has become a driving force for economic growth in central provinces.

It has been chosen as one of five key economic zones nationwide where investors are highly encouraged to invest during the 2013-2015 period.
