Thai Nguyen attracts US$45 million in foreign investment

Foreign investment pledges in the northern province of Thai Nguyen have reached US$45 million since the start of 2020, despite the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, according to a provincial official.

The province has also seen a further VND1.4 trillion (nearly US$62.3 million) poured into its industrial parks by domestic investors during the period, said Tran Van Long, deputy head of the Thai Nguyen Management Board of Industrial Parks.

He elaborated that the province had granted investment licences to eight foreign projects worth a total of US$29 million and a single domestic project worth VND20 billion (approximately US$860.000).

Additional amounts of US$16 million and VND1.382 trillion were also pledged to existing foreign and domestic projects respectively.

Currently Thai Nguyen Province is home to 117 foreign-invested projects with a total capital of US$8.4 billion and 116 domestic projects worth VND15.3 trillion (over US$658 million).

Such projects have created more than 100,000 jobs and brought in export revenue of US$27 billion.
