Held in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), the conference will link with 15 domestic locations and 60 other locations across 21 countries and territories.

The conference will also be attended by representatives of the ministries concerned, distribution networks, importers and exporters.

Director of the Hung Yen Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Van Tho said the department is working with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency to seek ways to expand the market for Hung Yen’s agricultural produce.

With nearly 1,000 participants, the conference will be a good opportunity for more customers to get to know about the longan, Hung Yen’s flagship product, as well as other agricultural goods, said Tho.

In addition to longan, the northern province is also known for its oranges, bananas, turmeric and ornamental trees and flowers.

The total longan area in Hung Yen is about 4,800 hectares, with an expected output of 50,000-55,000 tonnes in 2021, up 15-20% compared with a year ago, while the total growing area of citrus fruits is 3,800 hectares with an estimated output of 40,000-45,000 tonnes.
