In order to register for trademark protection of Vietnamese rice, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has built and registered the ownership of the trademark of the 'Vietnam Rice' certification in Vietnam in accordance with the provisions of the Intellectual Property Law.

The granting of the 'Vietnam Rice' Certification Mark to rice traders and exporters is imperative in order to raise awareness of domestic and foreign producers, importers, distributors and consumers for Vietnamese rice products, creating a basis to consolidate and develop the market, improving the added value, market share and competitiveness of Vietnamese rice products in the world market, and at the same time contributing to the prevention and combat of counterfeit and imitation goods using the Vietnam Rice brand, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam.

It is necessary to issue the Vietnam Rice Certification Mark to rice traders and exporters and at the same time strengthen propaganda activities for businesses and stakeholders on using the Vietnam Rice brand in the world market, affirmed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Due to this fact, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has proposed that the Prime Minister allow the development of a decree on management and use of the Vietnam Rice Trademark in a simplified order of procedures to achieve the highest legal basis for developing the Vietnam Rice brand.

After more than 30 years of renovation, Vietnam's agriculture has made great progress, from a country lacking food, to now, Vietnam has regularly been among the top three rice exporters in the world (alongside Thailand and India).
