The seminar entitled “Promoting export of agricultural products to China” was jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the participation of representatives from 36 provinces and cities across the country, the Vietnam trade office in China and other business associations.

Delegates discussed solutions to foster agricultural and fishery exports to China in the context of deepening relations between the two countries, the recovery of China's economy, and China’s increasing import demand for high-quality agricultural products.

Addressing the seminar, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai, Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming and Nanning and Vietnamese Commercial Counsellor in China all affirmed that the fine bilateral relations between the two countries, the strong recovery of the Chinese economy, and China’s import policy are all advantages for Vietnam in boosting exports to the country.

However, they also emphasised the increasingly high requirements on quality and technical barriers from China for agricultural and aquatic products, requiring Vietnamese enterprises to quickly improve their quality and production methods.

Vietnamese enterprises and representatives from provinces including Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Dong Thap and others also pointed out difficulties and challenges in exporting to the Chinese market while making specific proposals for relevant authorised agencies to facilitate the customs clearance and boost regular information sharing between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said that increasing the export of agricultural and aquatic products to China is very favourable at this time, suggesting that Vietnamese representative missions in China continue to coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities and accompany businesses to further promote the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to this market.
