Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly made the statement while attending a working session with Quang Ngai authorities on November 16.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Dang Ngoc Huy briefed the NA Vice Chairman and the NA working delegation on important results obtained by the province in recent time.

Gross domestic product (GRDP) in 2021 is estimated at more than 53.5 trillion VND (over 2.34 billion USD), up 6% compared to 2020. Budget revenue in the area reached nearly 21 trillion VND, up more than 42% and exceeding the target assigned by the Government. Party and political system building as well as the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front chapter and political organisations have continued to achieve many positive results. The COVID-19 epidemic is basically under control.

Huy also noted that besides the achieved results, the socio-economic situation of Quang Ngai Province still has some shortcomings and limitations, with a number of key indicators having not been achieved as planned, such as the growth rate of GRDP; GRDP per capita is still low. The recovery of economic sectors is still slow compared to the set target. The quality of medical examination and treatment services has not fully met the increasing healthcare needs of the people.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong lauded efforts made by Quang Ngai in socio-economic development, Party and political system building, and effective implementation of measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic.

The NA Vice Chairman asked the province to be proactive in epidemic prevention and control plans as well as promote vaccination. More attention should also be paid to ensuring social security, he added.

He also underscored the need to maintain security, social order and safety for economic development; actively grasp the security situation at sea, economic security, and human security; and be prepared to respond and promptly handle natural disasters and rescue.
