Can Tho enterprise wins bid to export 15,000 tonnes of rice to ROK

Trung An Hi-tech Farming JSC based in Can Tho City has won a bid to export 15,000 tonnes of rice to the Republic of Korea (ROK) at a price of 369 USD per tonne (FOB price).

According to General Director of Trung An Hi-tech Farming JSC Pham Thai Binh, the batch of rice is 100% broken rice used as raw materials for beer production and will be delivered to Gwangyang Port between March and June 2022.

This year, the ROK has granted Vietnam a rice import quota of over 50,000 tonnes. During the bid on May 14, ROK imported 23,222 tonnes of rice from Vietnam, including 22,222 tonnes from Trung An Company.

Previously, the ROK opened a bid to import 11,236 tonnes of rice from Vietnam with Trung An Company having won the bid for the entire volume of rice.

Trung An General Director Pham Thai Binh said that the company has won bids to export a total of 48,763 tonnes of rice of various kinds to the ROK since early this year, accounting for 83% of the total volume that the ROK offered for Vietnamese rice.

Trung An is expected to achieve total revenue of 3.5 trillion VND (US$154.4 million) and profit after tax of 105 billion VND (US$4.6 million) in 2021.
