Projects develop smart agriculture to adapt to climate change in Ben Tre, Tra Vinh

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has just signed the Decision 1996/QD-TTg approving the investment policy of two major projects, developing smart agricultural value chains in order to adapt to climate change in the Mekong delta provinces of Tra Vinh and Ben Tre.

The overall objective of the two projects is to support sustainable agricultural development that is adaptable to climate change in accordance with Resolution No.120/NQ-CP dated November 17, 2017 of the Government on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta adapting to climate change.

The specific objective is to develop smart agricultural value chains on the basis of linking regions and sub-regions, connecting to markets, improving incomes and reducing risks for vulnerable groups, helping to maintain growth rate and competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the two provinces.

The two projects in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh will be implemented from 2022 to 2026 with a total investment of 27 million USD and 37.1 million USD, respectively in Ba Tri, Binh Dai, Thanh Phu, Giong Trom, Chau Thanh, Mo Cay Nam, Mo Cay Bac, Cho Lach districts and Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province; as well as in Cang Long, Cau Ke, Tieu Can, Tra Cu, Chau Thanh, Cau Ngang, Duyen Hai districts, Duyen Hai town and Tra Vinh city in Tra Vinh province.
