Bac Ninh Province marks 190th founding anniversary

The northern province of Bac Ninh held a ceremony on February 26 to mark the 190th anniversary of its foundation along with the 25th anniversary of its re-establishment.

In her speech, Bac Ninh Party Secretary Dao Hong Lan highlighted Bac Ninh’s transformation from a rural province into a modern industrial province, with its economic size now ranking 8th among provinces and centrally-governed cities in Vietnam.

The provincial economy grew by an annual average of 13.9% in the 1997-2021 period, helping its income per capita reach 155.6 million VND (6,815 USD) in 2021, ranking 4th nationwide.

Bac Ninh is now an electronic and high-tech manufacturing centre, home to over 1,700 foreign-invested projects worth a total of 21.2 billion USD.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Public Security To Lam congratulated the province on its significant achievements in the past 25 years.

He urged Bac Ninh to build on its tradition and tap into its strengths to transform Bac Ninh into a major economic driver of the northern key economic region as well as an industrial and smart city by 2045.

On the occasion, Minister To Lam presented the Labour Order, first class, to the Bac Ninh Party organisation, government and people.
