In 2022, Bac Giang is expected to produce 180,000 tonnes of lychee while the output of Hai Duong is estimated at 60,000 tonnes.

Within the event, delegates discussed measures to take Vietnamese lychees closer to consumers around the world.

With the peak harvest season falling in a short period from May to July, it is necessary to expand existing markets, look for new markets, and diversify the distribution channels so as to achieve smooth sailing in the sale of the fruit.

Expanding the export markets so as to increase the income of farmers and promote the local economy is also a top-priority goal.

At the forum, representatives of Hai Duong and Bac Giang presented information on the orientation of safe lychee growing zones as well as measures to realise the target of diversifying the markets for lychees.

Vietnamese lychees are currently being exported to more than 30 countries and territories around the world. However, for lychees to enter demanding markets, it is necessary to build a strict chain of processes from cultivation to harvest and storage.
