Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ben Tre Chairman Tran Ngoc Tam said he welcomes Ehime leaders and businesses looking for investment opportunities in the province and pledged to facilitate investors in the implementation of their projects.
Last year, Ben Tre’s exports to Japan reached 283 million USD, up 6.77% year on year, while it imported 129 million USD worth of goods from Japan. The Vietnamese province is hoping to attract Japanese investment in fields such as clean energy, electronics and biotechnology.
At the event, the two sides introduced their respective strengths and potential in economic development, in which Ben Tre boasts advantages in agriculture, tourism and renewable energy.
For his part, Governor of Ehime Nakamura Tokihiro spoke about the prefecture’s shipbuilding industry, papermaking, mandarin oranges, and seafood.
The economic cooperation agreement covers various sectors, including trade, industry, investment, technology, processing of agricultural and fishery products, and human resources development.
