During the opening ceremony, Le Tien Truong, General Director of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), said this year’s event had grown substantially compared to 2012.
Due to an increasing demand for textile dyes, an entirely new area was opened at this year’s trade fair to introduce relevant techniques and products.
According to Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s textile and garment industry is estimated to achieve an export turnover of US$25.4 billion in 2014, a 19% year-on-year increase.
With considerable results achieved in recent years, the free trade agreements currently under negotiation, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, will create more opportunities for the industry to thrive, he added.
The event is organised by Vinatex and lasts until October 17.
