The date was scheduled following the signing on October 22 of consulting and feasibility report agreements between PetroLao, Energy Commodities from Slovakia, Truong Thinh Group from Vietnam, and the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos.

The pipeline will run from Hon La port in Vietnam’s central Quang Binh province to Khammouane province of Laos.

The project, estimated to cost US$300-500 million, includes a bonded warehouse in Hon La, a wharf system and a 290-kilometre pipeline.

The bonded warehouse will have a capacity of 300,000 - 500,000 cubic metres while the port will be able to accommodate ships over 50,000 tonnes.

The pipeline is expected to be put into operation in 2018.
