Deputy PM Hai praised the efforts of local authorities and residents in the project’s site clearance and stressed the responsibilities of relevant sides in implementing the contract to ensure the work’s schedule and quality.

He asked relevant central agencies to work with Quang Ninh province and investors to address any problems, keep the project running safely and effectively on schedule, and ensure the project’s environment as evaluated and approved.

Quang Ninh province should work with investors to carry out vocational training for local workers in order to meet the plant’s labour demands when the construction is completed, contributing to shifting the province’s labour structure.

This is the first private plant in the country, invested in by the Thang Long-Gelexemco Thermal Power JSC with a 2x300MW capacity. The VND22 trillion (US$1 billion) plant is built in Le Loi commune, Hoanh Bo district, Quang Ninh province on a 124.44ha area. It operates in accordance with French technology which saves fuel and minimizes emissions, helping to protect the environment.

After 45 months of construction, the plant will produce 4,185Gwh per year, playing an important economic role together with other thermal power plants in Mao Khe, Cam Pha and Mong Duong.
