Japanese enterprises seek opportunities in Ha Nam

A delegation of businesses from Hiroshima in Japan made an exploratory tour to the northern province of Ha Nam seeking investment opportunities in the locality.

During a working session on March 11, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Mai Tien Dung introduced sectors with rich foreign investment potential, such as the support industry, high-tech industries and agricultural production.

The locality will offer a favourable business climate to foreign investors conducting business in the province in terms of human resources, infrastructure facilities, social order and other services, Dung said.

Head of the delegation, Nagakawa, spoke highly of the local investment climate, highlighting the 10 commitments made by the locality to foreign investors.

He also made note of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two localities in 2013, regarding it as a solid foundation for Japanese firms to do business in Ha Nam.

The province is now home to 125 projects funded by investors from 10 countries and territories, worth a total of nearly US$1.1 billion, with nearly US$ 448 million coming from Japan.

In 2014, Ha Nam granted licences to 32 FDI projects with US$302 million in capital, making it one of the top ten localities nationwide in attracting foreign investment.
