Accordingly, by 2030, Vietnamese rice is expected to become a leading world leading brand in terms of quality and food safety.

The plan stresses that creating a national brand name for Vietnamese rice is essential and possible. The overall objective of the plan is to raise the awareness of manufacturers, importers, distributors and consumers both at home and abroad on Vietnamese rice products, as well as create a foundation to consolidate and develop markets, and enhance added value, market share and competitiveness of Vietnamese rice products in the world market.

Under the plan, by 2020, Vietnamese rice products should be widely introduced across Vietnam and in at least 20 export markets. The intellectual property rights of the national rice brand will be protected in the form of a certification mark in Vietnam and at least 50 countries. By 2030, the Vietnamese rice brand name is expected to account about 50% of the country's rice exports.

The brand name will be built with authorities ensuring quality seeds are used, the cultivation strictly follows quality norms and the processing conforms to quality and hygiene standards. Popular global sustainable development standards will inform every stage of the production.

Regional brand names will be developed based on products typical to a region.
