Vietship 2016 opens in Hanoi

The 8th International Exhibition of Shipbuilding, Marine Technology and Transportation (VietShip 2016) officially opened at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on February 24.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong said Vietnam has great potential in developing the ship-building industry.

Vietship 2016 is expected to offer businesses and investors access to the latest information in the field and the chance to share new cutting-edge technology and seek investment opportunities to develop the shipbuilding industry in Vietnam and the world at large, he noted.

This year's event, organised by the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, has attracted 130 companies, including 52 domestic companies and 78 foreign firms with around 220 booths on a total area of 10,000 square metres.

Many companies from countries with developed shipbuilding industries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, the US, France, the UK, Finland, Denmark, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and China are also participating in the exhibition.

Participants will showcase products and services for shipbuilding, offshore facilities, marine transportation, finance, insurance, consulting and training services.

It is expected to draw around 10,000 visitors, including ship builders, manufacturers and suppliers, together with leading scientists, designers and technicians.

Vietship 2016 will run until February 26.
