The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Luong Thanh Nghi, representatives from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in addition to more than 100 enterprises, organisations and individuals interested in Vietnam.

At the workshop, Ambassador Nghi gave an overview of Vietnam’s socio-economic situation, highlighting the country’s major achievements after 30 years of the Doi Moi reform, including rapid growth and improved standards of living.

But as the world economy is recovering slowly, Vietnam is also facing numerous challenges, the diplomat said, adding that the government would pursue deeper reforms to facilitate foreign enterprises doing business in Vietnam.

The ambassador said that the strengths of Vietnam and Australia were complementary and the two countries had established a new foundation for further economic cooperation.

At the workshop, speakers talked about business opportunities in Vietnam from their own experience and affirmed that Vietnam held great promise for economic development thanks to its geographical location, business climate, young workforce and deep integration into the world economy.
