Vinamilk is also the only Asian company operating in the food and beverages sector to make the top 10.
This year’s Asia300 includes a list of the 327 biggest and fastest-growing companies from 11 economies across the continent. The Nikkei Asian Review has analysed the growth, profitability, efficiency and financial stability of the companies in the Asia300 list, based on their earnings for the most recent fiscal year.
From its 20th spot in the 2016 list, Vinamilk has made significant progress to take eighth place on this year’s list.
Established in 1976 with only one product of sweetened condensed milk, Vinamilk has gone on to establish itself as Vietnam's largest food processor and currently has more than 200 dairy products. It is said to account for about 50% of Vietnam's dairy market.
Not only dominating Vietnam's dairy product market, Vinamilk has also expended its operations to tap the global market in recent years with export turnover in 2016 at US$258 million. Vinamilk products have been exported to 43 countries around the world.
The company has landed a spot in the top 50 best listed firms in the Asia Pacific region, according to Forbes Magazine in 2016. Mai Kieu Lien, chairwoman and CEO of the company was named among Asia's Power Businesswomen 2015 list, released by Forbes in March 2015.
