Speaking at the session, the PM noted that the group’s attainments have substantially contributed to the national socio-economic development and sovereignty protection, adding that restructuring the group and its affiliates is also crucial in promoting key projects and contributing to the national economy.

More attention should also be paid to improving employee livelihoods, he said.

According to a report presented by the group at the session, PetroVietnam produced 9.23 million tonnes of oil in the first seven months of 2017.

The group’s total revenue in the first seven months of 2017 reached VND278.5 trillion (US$12.25 billion), surpassing the seven-month target by 14% and fulfilling 64% of the yearly target.

The fire prevention at oil and gas facilities was seriously controlled while social welfare policies have been carried out.

The group is striving to produce at least 13.28 million tonnes of crude oil and 10.61 billion cubic meters of gas in 2017 and will keep a close watch on oil prices in order to promptly cope with any fluctuations.

It will also focus on the safe and stable operation of oil and gas plants in addition to accelerating investment and prioritising capital for projects to be completed in 2017.
