Vietnam witnesses establishment of over 12,400 new enterprises in August

The number of newly established enterprises in August rose 6.2% to 12,404, with a total registered capital estimated at VND131 trillion (US$5.76 billion), up 39% from the previous month.

These new enterprises are expected to create jobs for over 101,000 people, according to data released by the General Statistics Office (GSO).

August also saw 1,605 enterprises resume their operations, whilst 3,777 temporarily suspended operations and another 1,146 completed dissolution procedures.

The GSO stated that during the January-August period, the number of newly established enterprises totalled 83,357, with capital registered at over VND822 trillion (US$36.2 billion), up 44.8% over the same period of 2016.

The first eight months of 2017 also witnessed an additional VND1,100 trillion (US$48.4 billion) injected into the economy by existing enterprises through increasing their capital.

In addition, there were 19,154 enterprises returning to business in the eight months up until August, up 2.4%, and 45,776 enterprises temporarily halting their operations, up 13.3% from the previous year.
