Deep C III is the third project kick-started on Cat Hai Island so far this year, and also the third project implemented by the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone Joint Stock Company in Hai Phong up to date, following the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone (Deep C I) and the South Dinh Vu Industrial Zone (Deep C II).
Covering an area of 520 hectares within the 2,000-hectare Deep C Industrial Zone complex, Deep C III is conveniently connected with the Hai Phong International Gateway Port, the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Bridge and the Hanoi-Hai Phong and Ha Long-Hai Phong Expressways, and is also expected to be an attractive destination for investors in the fields of automobile supporting industries, logistics, light industries and general industries.
With the goal of moving towards a sustainable industrial zone model in Vietnam and becoming an international-level industrial park attached with deepwater ports, Deep C III will be built into an eco-industrial park, which will minimise waste and gas emissions, whilst supplying eco-solutions for investors, thus meeting the requirements and trend of sustainable development and international integration.
Addressing the ceremony, Frank Wouters, Director-General of the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone JSC, voiced his belief that Deep C III would be a perfect venue for logistics projects. With the Hai Phong International Gateway Port, the first deep-water port in North Vietnam, investors will be able to save on import-export costs thanks to direct shipment routes, instead of having to transit via Hong Kong or Singapore.
Pieter de Crem, Belgian Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, stated that the Deep C Industrial Zones complex is not simply an investment project of Belgium in Vietnam, but also a convergence place for many different firms from across the world, which have been conducting business successfully in Vietnam. So far, over 70 businesses have decided to invest in this complex.
Hailing the efficiency of the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Dang Huy Dong, affirmed that the construction of Deep C III will continue to be an investment spotlight, bringing about common benefits for Vietnam and Belgium and contributing to strengthening the diplomatic ties and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Chairman of the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Hung, asked the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone JSC to focus their resources and accelerate the construction progress of Deep C III, as well as to pay special attention to environmental protection during the construction process.
The company was also urged to deploy investment promotion activities, with priority given to the projects using modern and environmentally friendly technologies and manufacturing high added value products.
On the same day, the Vietnam Electrical Equipment Joint Stock Corporation (GELEX) and the Deep C III management board signed an agreement in principle with regards to the renting of the industrial zone’s 50 hectares for the construction of an electrical equipment manufacturing complex, worth approximately US$200,000-300,000.
