The conference on ASEAN business connectivity and the forum themed “ASEAN Economic Community: Opportunities and Challenges to Vietnamese Businesses” saw the participation of over 300 Vietnamese firms and a number of Malaysian companies, together with representatives from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) Vietnam, and Vietnam’s Intersectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the VCCI, Doan Duy Khuong, provided an overview of current changes in the business environment in ASEAN countries as well as in the world.

These changes have brought about both challenges and opportunities for the countries’ enterprises, including those from Vietnam, he said, stressing that it is a survival task for businesses in the integration process to overcome such challenges and make effective use of opportunities for further development.

Khuong expressed his hopes that through the meetings, Vietnamese firms will share and learn from lessons of experience in order to be able to help themselves as well as the domestic business community.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Le Quy Quynh hailed ASEAN member countries, including Malaysia, as promising markets for Vietnamese enterprises.

The diplomat pledged his utmost efforts in order to support and connect Vietnamese and Malaysian businesses, contributing to facilitating bilateral economic and trade ties to meet the targets set by the two countries’ leaders.

On this occasion, representatives from state management agencies, scholars and scientists clarified the questions raised by the participating firms, helping them to gain an insight into the economic integration process.

The event, held by the Asian Management and Development Institute under the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology, is scheduled to be held in Indonesia and Singapore in the next few days.
