Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, who heads the National Committee on APEC 2017, warmly welcomed and spoke highly of the significant contributions made by the 31 sponsors for the activities of the APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam.

The organisation of the APEC Year 2017 aims to implement Vietnam’s policy of strengthening its proactive and active international integration, whilst advertising Vietnam as a responsible member within the international community, he said.

Politburo member Minh hailed the APEC 2017 as an occasion to introduce a dynamic and forcefully growing Vietnam to the world, particularly the image of Vietnamese businesses in the process of international integration.

He highlighted the significance of the businesses and sponsors’ contributions in joining the State’s resources to organise the APEC 2017 conferences, noting that the sponsorship for the events of the APEC Year 2017 is at a record high, which demonstrates the businesses’ trust in the Party and State’s policies.

According to Vice Chairman of the Government’s Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh, who heads the APEC 2017 National Committee’s Sub-committee for materials and logistics and also the sponsorship mobilization board, a total of 31 firms have signed sponsorship contracts and implemented their responsibilities by donating artifacts and cash thus far.

Among the 31 sponsors, there are eight special sponsors with a sponsorship value of VND10 billion (US$440,000) or above each, both in artifacts and cash, including Audi Vietnam, Vingroup, Vietnam Airlines, Boeing, Viettel, Minh Long High-Class Ceramics and Porcelain Company, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) and Sun Group. The remainder are eight major sponsors with a value of from VND5 billion to below VND10 billion each, in addition to two co-sponsors with a value of from VND3 billion to below VND5 billion each, and 13 sponsors with a value of below VND3 billion each.
