The event witnessed the presence of representatives from the Hokuriku Economic Federation, the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Tran Duc Binh.

The association has been set up with the purpose of boosting investment promotion amongst enterprises, as well as strengthening the economic relations between Vietnam and Japan, through the exchange of human resources and economic activities.

The association will carry out activities to encourage and support enterprises from the Hokuriku region to invest and conduct business in Vietnam, in addition to coordinating and receiving economic exchange programmes, overseas students and apprentices, and assisting Vietnam in human resources training.

In the near future, the association is scheduled to send a business delegation to visit Vietnam in order to seek investment opportunities in mid-2018.

Japan's Hokuriku region consists of Fukui, Ishikawa and Toyama provinces which lay along the Sea of Japan. The region is home to many leading companies in the areas of advanced technology, mechanics, manufacturing, the textile and garment industry, information technology, agricultural production and processing, and several large universities and research institutes.

So far, 72 enterprises from the Hokuriku region have invested in and run business in Vietnam.

Following the launch ceremony, the association of enterprises promoting investment between Japan's Hokuriku region and Vietnam organised a Vietnam-Japan Economic Exchange meeting with the participation of a Vietnamese delegation partaking in a human resources training course in Japan and over 100 Japanese businesses.
