Vietnamese sugar exported to 28 markets worldwide

Vietnam had exported over 43,000 tonnes of sugar, worth US$20.6 million, to 28 markets worldwideby September, according to Pham Quoc Doanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Sugarcane and Sugar Association.

Key markets for the products include China, Russia, the US, the Republic of Korea, the UK, Australia, Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands.

In addition to white, yellow and refined sugar, Vietnam has also exported sugar candy, palm sugar and chopped sugar cane.

The largest Vietnamese exporters are Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company, with almost 23,000 tonnes worth US$12 million being exported to Myanmar, China, Singapore and India; and Thanh Thanh Cong Tay Ninh Company which exported sugar to the Philippines, Myanmar, China, and Sri Lanka.

According to the Department of Farm Produce Processing and Market Development, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, sugarcane output reached over 13.1 million tonnes, whilst sugar output was recorded at over 1.23 million tonnes in the 2016-17 yields.

The country currently has 41 sugar factories with a total capacity of 150,000 tonnes of sugar cane per day.
