The Vietnamese section features 30 booths set up by 20 firms on an area of nearly 300 square metres, attracting a large crowd of visitors, including Cuban officials and representatives from Cuban importers and those from the Central American, Caribbean, African and Middle Eastern regions, who have come to discover information and conduct transactions.
During the “Vietnam Day” at the FIHAV 2017, Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Antonio Carricarte, alongside Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba, Nguyen Trung Thanh, cut the ribbon to launch Vietnam’s display area, whilst co-organising a meeting between the Vietnamese companies and over 20 leading Cuban import groups and corporations, including Gecomex, Cimex and TRD.
The event witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam’s Thai Binh Investment Trading Corporation and Cuba’s TRD Group on the construction of a showroom for building materials in Cuba, in addition to the inauguration of the “Vietnam-La Sortija House”. This will be the first store in a chain that the two sides plan to establish and run together, focusing on selling imports from Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Antonio Carricarte stated that the Vietnamese products on display are of various types and meet with the needs of the Cuban market, ranging from toiletries to building materials.
With a background of fine traditional relations between the two countries, Cuba and Vietnam enjoy huge potential for the acceleration of their bilateral economic and trade ties, he said, hailing Vietnam’s enthusiastic participation in the FIHAV 2017 as vivid evidence of his belief.
The FIHAV 2017 has brought together 3,400 businesses from 70 countries and territories throughout the world.
