He made the remark at a meeting with representatives of more than 60 US companies ahead of the APEC CEO Summit organised by the US-APEC Business Coalition and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The president expects that the coalition would continue to help attract more US firms to Vietnam and lobby the US government to soon recognise Vietnam as a market economy.

At the meeting, the State leader emphasised the fine development of the US-Vietnam relationship as seen in the recent visits by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders and noted that Vietnam considered the US as one of its leading trade and investment partners.

President Quang also enthusiastically welcomed US President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Vietnam, the first by a US president in his first term of office.

For their part, US businesses praised Vietnam’s preparations for the APEC Summit and the country’s efforts to improve the business climate.

The US-APEC Business Coalition expressed gratitude towards the Vietnamese leaders for frequently listening to US businesses’ concerns and affirmed that US companies would continue to help further strengthen the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in the time ahead.
