The event is held annually on the first Friday of December by the Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency which has created a pervasive influence on the business community and consumers.
This year's event will see the participation of large firms including FPTShop, ViettelStore, Lazada, Sendo, Lotte, Aeon, Robins, Pico, Tiki, Mediamart, among others.
According to the organising board, the online shopping day is expected to bring about estimated revenue of over VND1.5 trillion (US$66 million) through more than one million successful deals.
The organising board will also cooperate with price comparison websites, including Websosanh and Topgia to scan prices of products sold during the Online Friday to avoid misleading promotion and advertising.
Online Friday 2017 will also include the BigOFF event, the e-commerce activities to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from December 1-3. The online shopping day aims to create online shopping habits and promote non-cash payment in Vietnam.
Last year's Online Friday posted total revenue of nearly VND1 trillion (US$44 million) and also saw the participation of nearly 3,000 enterprises.
