The statement was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a seminar under international conference and exhibition on smart industry (Smart Industry World 2017) in Hanoi on December 5.
The event was also attended by Politburo members: Nguyen Van Binh, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Economic Commission; and Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of Hanoi municipal Party Committee.
Taking place on December 4-5, Smart Industry World 2017 is a large-scale international event on smart technology, consisting of four a series of four seminars and an exhibition on technologies under industry 4.0.
Addressing the seminar on ‘shaping and developing smart manufacturing in the future, the PM emphasised that the Smart Industry World was an important forum for countries to discuss and share experience in high-tech application and development of smart industry.
The event offered an opportunity for Vietnam to identify advantages, difficulties and challenges to set out the orientation, major tasks and measure in order to develop its smart industry in the near future, he added.
PM Phuc noted that the Vietnamese Government should focus on guiding the building and development of the digital economy and the smart industry, considering them as the key tasks for the restructuring of the economy in association with shifting the growth model towards improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness.
He also pointed out several key tasks and solutions including improvement of institutions, mechanisms, policies and laws for the development of digital economy and smart industry; strong application of information and technology in administrative reform; building of e-government; and provision of online public services.
The Government leader set a target of one million high-quality digital workers by 2020 in Vietnam and suggested the inclusion of contents related to the industry 4.0 into the education programmes at all levels.
He suggested a number of topics for discussion at the conference including assessing the current state of the Vietnamese economy in terms of applying new technologies; sharing experience on digital economy and smart industry, particularly for countries having similar conditions with Vietnam; proposing specific strategies, orientation and measures to develop digital economy and smart industry in Vietnam in the near future.
The exhibition on technologies from the Industry 4.0 featured the participation of nearly 50 leading manufacturing, technological and industrial enterprises from Vietnam and many other countries around the world, such as Germany, Sweden, the US, the Republic of Korea and Japan In regards to different fields, including automation, robotics, smart technologies, agriculture, healthcare, education, fintech and software.
With over 50 pavilions, the exhibition introduced smart industrial solutions in different fields, including telecommunications, automation, robotics, smart technologies, agriculture, healthcare, education, fine-tech and software.
