Dong Thap’s efforts to make the business environment more approachable have been recognised by the business community, as seen in the high performance on the provincial competitiveness index and the public administration performance index.

The government leader said that Dong Thap province has been a bright star in recent years, with the concept of an enabling government being transmitted across all levels of authorities, who have in turn responded to the businesses’ feedback in a win-win spirit.

PM Phuc emphasised that Dong Thap is role model from which he can see a vision of a province working for the benefits of the people and businesses that will transcend many generations.

He pointed out that the reason behind Dong Thap’s success is the fostering of links between production and the market, and between the province and neighbouring localities, to develop a common region.

At the conference, the Dong Thap leadership informed the investors that Dong Thap is a major agricultural centre in the Mekong Delta, with an annual rice output of 3.3 million tonnes, alongside 400,000 tonnes of catfish and many other specialty fruits.

In addition, Dong Thap is also home to the 100-year-old plus Sa Dec flower village, Tram Chim National Park - a Ramsar site and an archaeological site of the Oc Eo Culture.

Therefore Dong Thap is calling for investment in agriculture and tourism as its top priorities.

* The same day in Dong Thap, PM Phuc also visited the provincial military command on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese People’s Army.

On behalf of the government, Phuc commended the command’s contributions to ensuring defence and security in the province.

He noted that as the global and regional situation remains complicated, it is necessary for the Dong Thap military command to stay highly vigilant and work closely with other forces to proactively deal with any incidents that may arise.
