Vietnam, China set up “golden” logistics corridor

The two countries are joining efforts to speed up the connection of freight trains between Vietnam to a third country via China and vice versa on the China-Europe container train.

The bureau stated at the 41st Vietnam-China border railway conference in mid-December, the normalisation of cross-border container trains between Nanning and Hanoi was included in the new protocol.

On November 28, the China-Europe container train carried goods from Nanning to Hanoi for the first time in about 20 hours. Later on December 1, the train transported Vietnamese goods back to China’s Pingxiang border railway station, thus paving the way for cargo transportation between the two countries.

The Nanning Railway Bureau said that within only 20 days since its launch, the China-Europe container train has conducted four trips from Hanoi to Pingxiang with a total volume of 1,880 tonnes, demonstrating that the two countries’ efforts to set up a “golden” bilateral logistics corridor.

The Fangchenggang-Dongxing railway project was launched on December 18. Once completed, Guangxi province will have three border railway routes to the China-Vietnam border, facilitating connectivity between the two countries.
