The event is taking place at ExpoForum, a convention and exhibition centre in St Petersburg, under the patronage of Russian President Vladimir Putin and attracts more than 10,000 participants from over 120 countries.

The three-day forum gathers representatives of many large companies from Russia and other countries, as well as politicians, and national and local leaders.

Major themes of the forum are harnessing Russia’s growth potential, human capital in the digital economy, technology for leadership and the global economy in the era of change.

The highly anticipated sideline event will be the meeting between Russian President Putin and the International Advisory Board of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and representatives of the international investment community.

It is estimated that 40 leaders of the world’s largest investment funds will attend the meeting.

Last year, the SPIEF attracted 14,000 participants from 143 countries around the world. At the forum, 400 investment agreements worth about US$32.5 billion were signed.
