The construction project for the road had its investment package approved by the Prime Minister in August 2016.
The 10km road with a total investment of nearly VND4 trillion (roughly US$176 million) will include four overpasses and a modern lighting and drainage system.
The road is expected to serve as an important route facilitating the transport of cargo for Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, logistics centres, and industrial parks in the region.
Road 991B is scheduled to be put into operation in 2024.
