Unitel receives Lao Labour Order on 10th founding anniversary

Star Telecom (Unitel), a joint venture between the Laos-Asia telecom company and Vietnam’s Viettel telecom group, held a ceremony in Vientiane on May 29 to celebrate its 10th founding anniversary and receive the Lao State’s Labour Order, second class.

The accolade was presented by Lao Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Chansamone Chanyalath, on behalf of the Lao Prime Minister in order to acknowledge Unitel’s contributions to facilitating Lao socio-economic development, and nurturing the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

On the occasion, the Lao Defence Ministry awarded Bravery Orders to outstanding staff members of Unitel, who have significantly contributed to the venture’s development.

Addressing the ceremony, Unitel CEO, Cao Anh Son, expressed his sincere thanks to the Lao Party and State for the award, affirming that the recognition was a strong motivation for the venture to fulfil its assigned tasks.

He also reviewed the establishment and development of the joint venture over the past decade as well as efforts made by more than 1,500 staff members in establishing Unitel as the leading telecom operator in Laos with 2.9 million customers, accounting for 52% of the market share.
