FPT will be responsible for developing the control apps for mobile devices, while Dien Quang will be in charge of hardware research and development, as well as manufacturing the final products.

Both companies will work together to write embedded software for the co-branded lamps, which can be turned on or off by a Vietnamese voice using speech recognition technology developed by FPT.

At the signing ceremony, on June 20, Dien Quang and FPT demoed switching a prototype product on and off, as well as adjusting its brightness and changing its colour, with a smartphone.

Pham Le Minh, head of Dien Quang’s IoT department, said the company has conducted research into smart lamps since 2016 and began making LED light bulbs in 2017.

Dien Quang currently has five light bulb factories in Vietnam and one in Venezuela, with a total capacity of 200 million products annually, and is planning to open a new factory to produce LED chips in Ho Chi Minh City by the end of the year.
