The events were co-organised by Thailand-based Reed Tradex, the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC), the HCM City Centre for Supporting Industry Development, and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
In his opening remarks, CEO of Reed Tradex, Isara Nurintranart, said that Metalex Vietnam and Nepcon Vietnam have been held annually over the course of more than ten years, and have become an ideal platform for industrialists to update and renovate their knowledge in the fields of metal processing and electronics.
Metalex Vietnam 2018 will be the destination for more than 10,000 shoppers from all over the world to access the latest machine tools and processing solutions from 500 brands from 25 different countries and territories, including many famous brands of Hoffmann, Hexagon, Takamaz, and Weldcom. Meanwhile, Nepcon Vietnam 2018 has attracted more than 200 suppliers from 20 countries to showcase, introduce and connect trade in the area of technology and electronics.

The Supporting Industry Show, organised by JETRO, aims to offer Japanese and Vietnamese businesses opportunities to directly meet and connect in the supporting industry supply chain.
Takimoto Koji, Chief Representative of JETRO in HCM City, stated that there are nearly 2,500 Japanese companies operating in Vietnam, more than half of which are in the manufacturing sector. However, most businesses currently have to import materials, components and spare parts. In fact, although they want to increase the localisation rate, Japanese firms can only buy roughly 33% of the components required in Vietnam, including those produced by Japanese enterprises.
The Supporting Industry Show, with the participation of 29 Japanese manufacturers, is expected to promote the level of links between Japanese manufacturers and Vietnamese suppliers, contributing to improving the localisation rate for made-in-Vietnam products in the future.
The exhibition series will last until October 13.
