Addressing the event, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, praised the proud contributions made to the city’s development by the business community over the past year.

While congratulating the honourees, who represent more than 500,000 firms operating in Ho Chi Minh City, he expressed his hope that they would continue embracing obstacles and promoting solidarity in the joint effort to make the city an important economic, trade, financial and sci-tech hub in Southeast Asia.

A gathering was held in Quang Ninh province on the same day to mark Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day. At the ceremony, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 24 excellent businesses in recognition of their significant contributions to the locality’s development.

A similar event was also organised in Thanh Hoa province yesterday to honour outstanding businesses and products in the locality. At present, Thanh Hoa has more than 10,000 operating firms, which have created jobs for around 350,000 labourers.
